A group exhibition curated by Batubalani Art Projects

Public View: Thursday 27th October 7-9.30pm

Show Dates: 28-10-2016 – 31-10-2016

It is often said that we become the products of the space around us. If this is the case, then what becomes of those rushing around, dividing up time, trying to be in many places at once? Ever wanted to stop and leave a mark upon the city? A record of your presence?

This exhibition invited four contemporary artists to respond to the theme of 'corpografia' - how the body shapes the space around it, but also how the surrounding environment shapes the body and its daily patterns. The exhibition features a selection of new multimedia works by four emerging UK-based Philippine artists.

Lawrence Carlos's slow exposure photographs of a live performance enacted by Noel Ed De Leon and Kulay Labitigan (Kilapsaw: Everything Must Go, Regent Street, July 2016) evoke a powerful insight into he fretful and ephemeral nature of central London. Lawrence's stunning photographs will be accompanied by an interactive installation by Noel Ed De Leon and Kulay Labitigan, featuring original artefacts from the aforementioned performance. A special highlight of the exhibition will be a durational live performance by artist Rhine Bernardino, which explores the impact of the 9 to 5 work day on the mind, body and surroundings.

Join us on Thursday 27th October for a preview of the exhibition and find out more about the works of these four artists at the talk 'Artists in Conversation with the Curators' (starts 7.30pm)
